New cartridge filters ideal for sterile manufacture of APIs
Billerica, Massachusetts—September 4, 2008—Millipore Corporation, a Life Science leader providing technologies, tools and services for bioscience research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, today announced the availability of new Solvex cartridge filters. These filters provide customers with validated, robust and cost-efficient sterile filtration for solvent-based active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

Solvex filters are suitable for the filtration of a wide variety of organic solvents and are scalable to meet the changing process needs of our customers. The robust design of the Solvex filter cartridges promotes a consistent, repeatable manufacturing process characterized by high-capacity, low extractables, and resistance to thermal and hydraulic stress. Solvex cartridge filters can be reused multiple times, promoting an economical filtration process. They are available in 10-, 20-, and 30-inch sizes and can be steamed in place up to 135°C.
