Type 1 (Ultrapure) Milli-Q
Several Millipore water systems are designed to produce ultrapure (Type 1) water. Some can operate directly from tap (potable) water and others from pure water (Elix, RiOs, distilled or DI water).
The selection of the proper ultrapure water system for your laboratory will depend on several parameters such as: feed water available in the laboratory, instant and daily volumes needs of ultrapure water or ultrapure and pure water, the quality of monitoring of water quality and the level of certification required and several other points.
Millipore Applications Specialists are available to discuss with you all these parameters and to help you to design the laboratory water system best adapted to your needs. You can contact them by telephone or by e-mail. See our list of offices.
Ultrapure water directly from tap water feed
For laboratories that do not have a reliable source of pure water, Millipore offers compact water systems producing pure and ultrapure water directly from tap water. This concept offers several benefits:
- It allows installation of a complete water system in minimum amount of space in any lab with tap water feed
- It eliminates the need for central water purification systems and the associated water delivery loops which may be complex, expensive, difficult to maintain and to extend
- It gives the users of the water system complete control over all water purification steps and the final water quality.

Ultrapure water from pure water feed
For laboratories that already have access to a reliable pure water source or who need both large volumes of pure water and small to large volumes of ultrapure water, Millipore can provide specific solutions. Millipore Application Specialists are available to discuss with you the relative merits of these different systems related to your specific needs and situation.Milli-Q AdvantageFor ultrapure (Type I) water needs up to 300 L/day, designed to fit with all laboratory applications (spectrophotometry, chromatography, cell culture or molecular biology) with the convenience of up to 3 different ultrapure water delivery points and water quality specifically tailored to the application.Learn more... | |
Q-POD ElementFor scientists who want to perform ultra trace elemental analysis down to ppt or sub-ppt levels by techniques such as ICP-MS, Millipore had developed the Q-POD Element. Pod-Pak Consumables
In order to better adapt the ultrapure water quality to the end user needs, Millipore has developed a range of POD-Pak that can be connected at the outlet of the Type 1 water system to provide additional insurance that specific contaminants have been removed from Type 1 water.
