Entrez Gene Number:
Entrez Gene Summary
This gene encodes the general transcription factor IIB,one of the ubiquitous factors required for transcription initiation by RNA polymerase II. The protein localizes to the nucleus where it forms a complex (the DAB complex) with transcription factors IID and IIA. Transcription factor IIB serves as a bridge between IID, the factor which initially recognizes the promoter sequence, and RNA polymerase II.

Description:
Anti-TFIIB (N-Term)
Trade Name:
Upstate (Millipore)
Background Information:
TFIIB (GTF2B, TF2B, general transcription factor IIB) is a ubiquitously expressed transcription factor. TFIIB is essential for the formation of the RNA Polymerase II initiation complex. It is localized to the nucleus where it forms a complex with both TFIIA and TFIID (DAB complex). There it serves a linker between TFIID and RNA Polymerase II. TFIIB is also known to interact with POU3F2.
Key Applications:
Western Blotting
Species Reactivity:
  • Human
  • Mouse
  • Rat
Species Reactivity Note:
Human. Mouse and Rat are expected to react as they share 99% homology.
